The Journey of Their Souls

Part 1: Tristan and Mercurio

Chapter 1

Mercurio walks down the various streets slowly, pausing every now and then when something strikes his interest, only to continue on a few moments later. He’s not really searching for anything in particular, but merely passing the time idly. The streets are packed with vendors selling wares and people chatting about their day, and all manner of children running about underneath everyone’s feet.
Without quite knowing anyone from the merchant class well enough to strike up a conversation with them, Mercurio feels like he’s standing in the center of a seething mass of humanity, yet removed and apart from it all the same. His fine clothes and expensive coat immediately define him as someone different from the rest. His boots alone are leather, well-made, and worthy of being killed for.
Still, Mercurio ignores the stares and ventures on, until he comes across the performance that he often comes to this particular street for. He likes to watch this one performer in particular, a talented young man, and Mercurio braves the streets most days in order to enjoy this small bit of entertainment.
‘Braves.’ As if there’s really any danger for him while he’s out among the public. No, Mercurio is sure that, while he’s in the middle of a crowd, he is safe. It’s while traveling alone through the quiet alleys and abandoned buildings that a man needs to fear for his life.

-------------------------------------------

Forever bonded, their two souls must find each other again and again. What fate awaits them in the next life? Wealthy and poor, officer and soldier, painter and musician, actor and author...

Part 1: Mercurio passes by an interesting street performer who he can't help but be drawn to. Tristan only wants a peaceful existence.
Part 2: Thomas fights for his people and country, but their time is running out. Malaki needs to keep his troops alive.
Part 3: Thane is a musician searching for an easy life. Michel wants to find his muse.
Part 4: Matthew is an actor given a challenging role. Trent is an author learning to love again.

The two of them must continue on this path together. Their journey is a search for peace in a world of sorrow and battle. Can there possibly be any joy to be found for them?

Seeds of the Poisoned Apple

I
Loren wishes for a baby girl. Perhaps it’s not wise of her to wish for a girl more than she wishes for anything else, but Loren has wanted a little girl to call her own for years, and now that she’s finally gotten pregnant, she wishes.
Every day, when she wakes up, Loren wishes for a baby girl. Every night, before she falls asleep, Loren wishes for a baby girl. Her stomach gets larger, and her hopes grow higher, until one day Loren feels horrible, stabbing pains in her stomach and knows for certain that something’s wrong.
She calls an ambulance through the spasms of pain, clenching her teeth tightly together and screaming anyway because she can’t stop herself. There’s something wrong. She’s so scared, and her husband’s at work, and she’s all alone, just her and her baby, and oh, god, she doesn’t care if her baby’s a little girl after all, as long as her child survives.
Into the ambulance, and there are paramedics around Loren, asking her questions that she wants to answer, but suddenly it’s so very difficult to breathe and everything hurts worse, and the machines are screaming, and no, she doesn’t want this. It’s all too much, and she’s never been more terrified in her life, but not for herself, no.
Her baby. Please, someone, save her baby.

------------------------------------

One single seed of poison can sow so much despair. Several of them can change the course of an entire life, as young Bai finds out. Who is she, and who is she meant to become? These are questions that Bai must decide for herself.

This is a tale of woe and sorrow and hope, a modern retelling of the old classic fairy tale "Snow White". Because happily ever after doesn't always necessarily happen, and wishes don't always come true, but sometimes, if we're very lucky, they do.

No Exit

Back and forth, we go around
No matter how many times
Scream and pound and struggle
Against the chains locking us down
Pulling us under, into the depths
Can’t breathe the air any longer
Hold our breaths as long as we can
Have to let go sometime, though
Push and pull, arms aching with
Failing strength, falling under
Over and over, once again, no hope
No path to move forward on anymore

Windy Road

How you howl, growl and
Moan, sharp and sad and fierce and
Strong, and all alone

Simplicity

Simple truths are not so easy
Hard truths are never simple
Break your bones and grind them
Dust and mortar to make your bread
Taste the morsels, one by one
Understand that consumption
Is not always so attainable
Chew and swallow the hard lump

Little Moments

Have to wonder
Sometimes
What it’s all for
The struggle
The grind
Every single day
In and out
Everybody trying
To get ahead, and
Stepping on each other’s
Prone bodies, not looking
Down
Is this all worth it?
Ignoring everyone else
I don’t know anymore
I’ve never known
Nothing seems right
Yet we all soldier on
Climb and balance and
Wish for something to feel
Good for once
Little moments are all
We have now So remember to hold on
